Since 2010, Buffalo Street Farm has been producing high quality, organically grown produce in Detroit. What started on one vacant lot now spreads across two acres.
The perennial crops currently in production include asparagus, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and grapes. In the spring of 2016, we planted 100 fruit trees, including apples, pears, plums, sweet cherries, and peaches. We expect these trees to begin bearing fruit in summer of 2020.
Each year we also grow a small variety of annual crops in our production fields and in our hoop house. In 2017, we will have garlic, slicing tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, basil, parsley, dill, sage, and horseradish available.
In addition to the variety of crops grown on the farm, we also keep laying hens and honeybees.
